There are amusing bits and charm and even some actual detection in what I have read, but it's all definitely on the light side. Yes, I know that Doublecross jackets, very cool. That seems to be one of his most common books, some of them are pretty rare.

LOL, I know that game, "Where's the !@#$%^&^#$% book?!" I've played it many times, albeit reluctantly.

Magic for Murder seems to have been published only in hardcover in UK, but appeared like a decade later in pb in the US, probably abridged? There is another one like that too, The Case of the Undying Corpse or something, that may have been a retitle. The Passing Tramphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09830680639601570152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-70009139554053653842017-12-04T10:12:53.345-08:002017-12-04T10:12:53.345-08:00Pulpy fun is the only way to describe Livingston&#...Pulpy fun is the only way to describe Livingston's books. I've read THE MONK OF HAMBLETON more than ten years ago. Even reading TomCat's review jarred nothing in my foggy memory bank. Also read THE MONSTER IN THE POOL which I remember as OK but disappointing when it came to the impossible crime bits. I've come across his stories in pulp magazines, too. I've owned several copies of THE DOUBLE CROSS over the years. still remember that two of them had a DJ with a weird face with wide open eyes. Sold all of them, never read it. Buried in a box somewhere is a copy of MAGIC FOR MURDER and if I can unearth it I'll try to read/review it this month. No promises. Took me half a day to locate a copy of a Fearn novel I wanted to review for next week. Hate wasting time playing "Where's that @#$%&!! book". But there's only myself to blame for a haphazard filing/shelving system.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.com
