His love and knowledge for the genre and its history immeasurably enriches his work, I think. The Passing Tramphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09830680639601570152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-1557423617525218112012-02-25T01:23:20.191-08:002012-02-25T01:23:20.191-08:00Great idea comparing these two Curt and I find mys...Great idea comparing these two Curt and I find myself in complete agreement with you. Inevitably the short story form can produce stories that tend towards the light and anecdotal as well as meatier content and one of the things I like about Casefile is precily the balance between the two. Of the various Hammett collections, Nightmare Town, very much a post-Steven Marcus approach, seems to me one that is worth singling out for the broad picture it provides of its author's busy out put from the 20s and early 30s.
Really looking forward to you reviews of Pronzini's work as he is such an accomplished
and versatile author. Good fiction is good fiction, plain and simple.

I'm afraid that's all I have to add to this article, but I will dispatch a mail to Bill Bronzini with a link post-haste!

By the way, I reviewed Casefile over at my blog, if anyone happens to be interested.TomCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03415176301265218101noreply@blogger.com
