Was thinking about reading something by him but I've been put off by the reviews and the awful racism quoted. But then again I suppose even Dickens is racistAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02708054769345144514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-4631884088360982562019-03-26T12:00:05.118-07:002019-03-26T12:00:05.118-07:00I didn’t have dust jackets for either of those, bu...I didn’t have dust jackets for either of those, but I do have one for Hi Spi Kick the Can. I would love to see. Yes, I was thinking of doing Death on the Set. I felt kind of obligated after dinging MacClure on these two books.

Do you recall if your copy of Counterfeit had a map, it really needed one!The Passing Tramphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09830680639601570152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-35067823230226603242019-03-26T11:39:50.967-07:002019-03-26T11:39:50.967-07:00Curses! Beaten to the punch. Again! I guess I'll settle back into reading and writing about truly obscure authors that no one will bother with.

If you'd like I can email you a photo of the DJ for COUNTERFEIT MURDERS to illustrate this post. I had a copy ages ago, but sold it. It was on my series of business cards (along with five other DJs) about five years ago. But I keep changing the illustrations on those cards, and it's long gone now. Still have the photo though.

BTW, I have two copies of CRYING PIG MURDER. It always looked to me to be a nautical mystery based on the blurb and the illustration on the DJ.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-52341543918185656842019-03-26T11:08:48.438-07:002019-03-26T11:08:48.438-07:00You might like it better if you can get past these...You might like it better if you can get past these opening characters.

Well, you made me go back to a MacClure. He had been one I was thinking about for reprinting, but I think if we did it would only be for a couple. The Passing Tramphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09830680639601570152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-2320233666640414112019-03-26T08:16:49.004-07:002019-03-26T08:16:49.004-07:00Thanks for the mention! John had Death Behind the Door lined up as one of his next reads when my review appeared.

What a shame The Crying Pig Murder is not up to scratch, because I think the title sounds quite intriguing. I half expected it was about a murder on a pig farm, a la Gladys Mitchell, but more Crofts-like. Not at all what you described!TomCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03415176301265218101noreply@blogger.com
