At the time, I read The Dartmouth Murders, but was unaware of his second novel. I was very excited to see that it had recently been re-published, and of course ordered a copy immediately.

While I was quite pleased with the novel itself and the opportunity to read it, I was decidedly less pleased with your introduction, where you state that Clifford Orr distinguished himself as a member of the drama club at "Dartmouth University." As any Dartmouth alumna must insist, we are Dartmouth College, *not* Dartmouth University. While this may seem a minor difference, it is in fact a major point in the history of our small (but much loved) college, such that we cannot allow such an error to go uncorrected.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartmouth_College_v._Woodward

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartmouth_University

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartmouth_CollegeCChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09668474441900682619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-6768126832123921382017-08-09T18:42:22.347-07:002017-08-09T18:42:22.347-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.CChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09668474441900682619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-21917602978736089872016-03-08T00:13:40.273-08:002016-03-08T00:13:40.273-08:00Yes, Orr was a true Maine boy. And the fact that there don't seem to be any bathrooms on the second floor ;-) I'll have to get a copy of this. As a result of your review of The Dartmouth Murders I had a look at the filmed version ... seems like Orr was a first-rate second-rate writer. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
