I think I stopped just before Mario Balzic retired and the series switched over to Rugs Carlucci - which means I may have 5 or 6 to read. I completely get what you mean by cozy police procedural (and why the description would sound crazy just based on the books' subject matter or what they sound like they are about - but I think you're right).
