I would argue that her later eighties Wexford output is inferior in quality as well.”
Is the first “quality” a typo for “quantity”? I agree with the assessment, by the way.Deadmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05012725254441170657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-58110022316450681592015-02-23T21:18:43.695-08:002015-02-23T21:18:43.695-08:00The similarity I see to Live Flesh is in the openi...The similarity I see to Live Flesh is in the opening chapter, where the cop is shot. Some might say her Murdermarch trilogy has TMS too (too much Sylvia--Wexford's other daughter), but I think I like her better than Shelia, even though Sylvia's supposed to be the unlikable one, Wexford's less loved daughter. I get kind of tired of hearing about how incredibly beautiful and wonderful, etc. Sheila is.

I think you should like Gunner's Daughter. The rap some people have on Rendell's Murdermarch books is too much social detail, but I think Rendell does it well. I tend to agree that the ones after 1999 are poorer. The similarity I see to Judgment in Stone is the family massacre, plus some interesting psychology. The Passing Tramphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09830680639601570152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-137677673775151256.post-11593743687791892622015-02-23T20:52:10.122-08:002015-02-23T20:52:10.122-08:00I loved The Veiled One so if she has work that is ...I loved The Veiled One so if she has work that is even better than that or A Judgement in Stone, I want to read it. I was told to stay away from her latter Wexford novels (1990's, etc). Either way, rend ell's output had been remarkable over the last 50 years. Sergio (Tipping My Fedora)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00819072625907181179noreply@blogger.com
